I've recently upgraded to Hardy and was most disappointed to discover that DVDStyler had been deleted from my system - AviDemux and DVDStyler have worked very well for me in the past.
I was really pleased when I discovered your repository included it.
I modified my sources.list etc as per your recommendations and installed DVDStyler.
Started it up and all went well, apart from a minor warning about:
Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_menu_attach_to_widget(): menu already attached to GtkMenuItem
Didn't concern me, as I have had similar warnings in the past.
However, when I'm setting up a DVD, add a text button and then right-click on it and select "Properties", DVDStyler crashes.
I can edit the .XML file to the text I want and point it to the movie I want, but that seems rather clunky 8-)
Do you have any idea what could be causing such problems?

I installed cinelerra on hardy. Cinelerra can only be started with root privileges and tries to save the backup to /root/.bcast which does not exist. How can I start Cinelerra as user and store data in ~/.bcast.
If this is possible I have the chance to get Cinelerra working for the first time since 2 years.
libxcb ( that is the future of libx11) and cinelerra works well only with libx11 or with patched libxcb... I'm wait for hardy libxcb update, if not I'll pubblish the patched libxcb.

Premetto che il bug è segnalato come "406", che non è fissato con l'installazione di Pulse audio (almeno nel mio caso), perché si riproduce al primo tentativo di caricare qualsiasi files. Essendo praticamente tu a gestire la versione "ufficiale" per ubuntu hardy, mi sono deciso a scriverti dopo le diverse segnalazioni (pensavo di essere tra pochi...) per sapere se è un bug che hai già risolto o da risolvere. Chiudo dicendo che lo stesso errore l'ho avuto compilando da CVS.
The problem is hard to be solved, because this is a random problem. In other words cinelerra make some files with wrong permissions (root:root) on ~/.bcast, you can solve with:
chown -R youruser:yourgroup ~/.bcast
this problem will be solved with the next revision of my cinelerra on this repository.

I can only get Cinelerra to run properly as root (sudo cinelerra).
If run as a user, the interface doesn't work most of the time, and it freezes or crashes on render.
Using Hardy Heron with the latest updates and your package cinelerra_1%3a2.1.0-1svn20080222akirad1_i386.deb
Should I just wait until Hardy Heron is finished?

I upgraded to Gutsy last night so that I could try and install your DVDStyler package. I was using DVDStyler 1.5b7 and all my efforts to install the new version (or to compile it) got me nowhere (many problems with dependencies which I don't understand and couldn't solve).
So, last night, within Gutsy, I managed to get it installed just fine following your instructions.
The problem now is that I can't do anything with DVDStyler: if I go to Help/About it crashes; if I load a project and try to see the Properties of an object, it crashes; if I start a new project and begin to add movies, menus, etc., it crashes at some point.
The program just closes, no error message is given, at least in a GUI format.
Can you be of any help?

I did a fresh install of Gutsy and all those problems disappeared.
Now I'm having problems with menu's backgrounds and menu's buttons. Looking at this thread (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1943454&forum_id=318795) in DVDStyler Help Forum I understand that there is a new beta version of the source code (1.6.1b2) that seems to have solve those problems.
Unfortunately, I am unable to compile and install this new version (or any other for that matter). I'm a one year newbie with Ubuntu and it's kind of frustrating to keep facing all those dependencies dead ends. wxSVG => libpangoo => libart2 => libc6...
I was wondering if you are planning to build an updated DVDStyler debian package with the 1.6.1b2 source code.

The problem I am experiencing with this k8 version is that it crashes when loading this file, which you can download from "http://pafranceparamoteur.free.fr/datas/perso/vclp0071.mp4". It seems that DvdStyler 1.6.0 for Gutsy package is broken. When the button to generate and record a DVD is pressed, the application closes and gives this error in terminal:

Would you please build another dvdstyler package for our testing, with the changes in its sources suggested in the link above ? Did you run into the same trouble with dvdstyler in your machine ?
I'd just like to say that your package akiradnews borders on spyware. NONE of these packages have any real dependencies on your site, aside from the fact that you compile them.
If I wanted news about this repository, I'd syndicate your blog posts.
I dont need popup windows telling me that there are updates. That's what apt-get is for.
you can easy disable package, If I wanted to put a spyware I would not have used a package separately. Consider also that this package can easily remove all software akirad.net (I think it is useful in event of dist-upgrade).

I would like to say that I also disagree with adding your news package as a dependency. How can I disable it? Could you post instructions for doing so on your site? Its true that it kind of feels like spyware and it also feels like outside of the Linux policies.
